Applications for 2026-27 are now open!
Thank you for your interest in joining Husky Math Academy!
We are now accepting applications.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Entering grades 7-11* (graduating classes of 2028-2032).
Completed Algebra 1, either in school or via self study. 7th graders taking Algebra 1 this year may also apply.
Can commit to >90% of our classes and events for the full school year. The school year runs from October until mid-June. See the schedule.**
Be available for the entirety of our meetings, Thursdays from 5-8pm, and quarterly weekend events.
Will complete all assigned homework (1-4 hours per week)
*Students generally enter HMA in 7th-9th grade, so we expect most of our available spots to be filled by these grade levels. While we will accept applications for new 10th and 11th graders, the majority of our 10th and 11th graders this year will be returning HMA students,
**We have a strict attendance policy. Students must be prepared to prioritize HMA on Thursdays over all other extracurricular activities for the full academic year (including sports or other after-school activities offered by your school).
If you plan to apply this year, hope to apply in the future, or just want to receive updates about HMA, you should join our mailing list - just scroll down to the website footer and provide your name and email.
We are now accepting applications for joining HMA in the 2026-27 school year.
There are two steps to the application process.
First, a parent/guardian should complete a Parent Application Form. In addition to basic contact information, the form includes several short- and long-answer questions to help us learn about your child, your family, and your child's math background. Please take your time and answer thoughtfully.
The second step is an in-person student visit. Student visits will be held from 5:00pm-8:00pm at UW Seattle in Savery Hall on the following dates:
Thursday, September 3, 2026
Tuesday, September 8, 2026
Thursday, September 10, 2026
The Parent Application Form will ask you to rank these dates by preference. After you submit the form, we will assign your student's visit date within three days (usually sooner). If you have not heard from us within that time, please contact us at info@huskymath.org.
We hope to be able to give every family their first-choice date. However, it is possible that a visit date will fill up, so we recommend submitting your Parent Application Form as early as possible. To be considered for a particular visit date, your application must be received at least three days in advance (August 31 for the September 3 visit, September 5 for the September 8 visit, and September 7 for the September 10 visit). Thus, the Parent Application Form will close on September 7, or earlier if the September 10 fills up.
The visit will have two parts:
a sample HMA class to give prospective students a feel for the the HMA classroom experience
a placement test, which will help us to determine which of several class levels is the best mathematical fit for a prospective student
During the placement test, parents are invited to attend an optional information Q&A session to learn more about the program and ask questions.
Additional details about the student visit and Q&A will be sent to registered families before their assigned visit.
We hope the student visit and Q&A will give prospective students and families a better sense of the program. Because we are unable to admit every qualified applicant, we also hope it gives us a more complete picture of each applicant, allowing us to make better informed admissions decisions.
The vast majority of admissions decisions will be released within a few days after the last student visit. We hope to communicate all decisions by Monday, September 14.
